With its headquarters in Brisbane, AXiOM College has campuses in Townsville, on Queensland’s Gold Coast and on the Sunshine Coast. Established in 1994 as the Computer Learning Centre, in December 2002 AXiOM College relaunched itself offering a greater range of courses from a diverse range of disciplines. Background

Kelly Business College trading also as Kelly English College was established in 1975 and offers a range of accredited courses to all students. Courses are developed and reviewed to meet student, business, industry and higher education (university) demands. Kelly's is a smaller college with a focus on quality and individual attention.

University Articulation

All Kelly Business College, business courses provide a pathway to university. Students who complete their courses satisfactorily may gain subject credits or admission to university. In a way, this is the ideal preparation for university entrance. In many cases the completion of a diploma course at Kelly's (40 weeks) is less expensive than a year's study at university and yet can be equal to one year's worth of study at university.

Kelly recognises that international students may have special requirements and thus they offer students individual attention in smaller classes to maximise your success. What would you prefer in your first year of study in Australia, a class of 12, 15, 60 or 100?

Kelly Colleges offers the following English Courses:

English for Academic Purposes Course

This short course of study has been developed to provide students with a broad range of skills necessary for tertiary study entrance. Many local universities look favourably upon this course. Students graduate with a statement of attainment and a written report. T

he course is made up of 10 weeks full-time study. The program has a 'rolling intake' which allows students to enter and exit the course at any time. Students are required to undertake a pre-course language skills assessment (included in cost) to ascertain current abilities and to identify any specific training needs. Should students wish to enrol for a period of less than 10 weeks, their initial assessment should reflect their potential to achieve the course outcomes in a lesser time.

Prospective students should be aware that this course often fills completely during periods leading up to university semester commencements. Class sizes are usually limited to 12 students. Academic staff involved in this course are qualified and experienced in all aspects of English for Academic Purposes.

English for Specific Purposes Courses

At Kelly's a number of English language based ‘add-ons' or stand alone units are available to take General English language learning to that next level. A number of English for Specific Purposes units can be used to strengthen the learner's English language skills in a specific area prior to undertaking further study. Teachers who conduct these courses are qualified English teachers who have studied or have had experience in the relative fields.

General English Language Courses

General English programs are delivered in a communicative learning environment offering up to 6 levels of instruction (beginner to advanced). These programs are ideal for individuals who wish to acquire initial English language skills or build upon existing skills.

Each level has specific learning objectives and a range of learning experiences relevant to the individual's needs and capabilities. Learners, through a structured course of study, will be provided with a working knowledge of the English language by incorporating grammatical structures, vocabulary enhancement, speaking, listening, reading and writing. General English language study focuses on functional learning experiences that enable the learner to quickly gain the confidence to actively use the language with confidence.

Learners are given ample opportunity to practise their skills by frequently interacting with English native speakers. As part of the program, learners will participate in activities indicative of Australian and native English speaking countries.

Learners will receive instruction in the classroom and at a range of outdoor and true-to-life learning locations. General English programs have a ‘rolling intake' thus allowing commencement at any time during a semester.
